Education Strategic Project Management

SEC Interdisciplinary Services

Creation of a large multi-purpose laboratory facility for Kingston University to accommodate staff, research and post-graduates. The new facility included wet area, wet laboratories, dry laboratories, bioinformatics area, preparation rooms and research space.

33 Colston Street

Delivery of a student accommodation building for University of Bristol that focused on enhancing the student living experience. The construction of 121 accommodation units (majority with en-suite bathroom facilities), shared kitchen areas, additional bathroom facilities, social space within the basement and ground floor study space.

North Wing Development

Project managers for the Feasibility Design Stages of Phase One of the refurbishment of Aston University’s North Wing Building. The refurbishment includes laboratories, meeting rooms, teaching space, offices and workshops.

Enterprise Centre

5000m² office development for University of Reading with associated car parking. This 3 storey office development comprises of offices, conference rooms and associated facilities, ICT suites, reception areas, cafeteria, meeting rooms and staff break out rooms with kitchen facilities.

Ashford Prep School

Extension and refurbishment project for United Learning of a new 60-place nursery and sports pavilion. The nursery scheme utilises the existing listed stable and cottage buildings, and includes an extension to provide an enhanced, light, open and welcoming nursery space. The new facilities includes office space.

Innovation Hub

New research and innovation building forming part of Swansea University’s College of Engineering. The facility houses aerospace, mechanical, nanotechnological and chemical engineering disciplines, and includes Workshops, Research and Engineering Laboratories, Meeting Rooms, Teaching Space and ICT Provisions.

Brunel Building

The construction of a new 2,500m² higher education teaching space for the delivery of Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths (STEM) courses within the car park of SGS College’s Wise Campus. This allows the relocation of these courses from the Filton campus to WISE.

Jubilee Sports Centre

Refurbishment and enhancement of University of Southampton’s existing sports offering on the Highfield Campus. Scope of the project includes new fitness suite, studio spaces, climbing wall, squash courts, and supporting amenities (changing facilities, café, reception areas).

Penrhyn Road

Refurbishment of a 1980’s building to improve the visual appearance of the main building and create an architecturally appropriate point of entry to Kingston University. The project aimed to improve building efficiency, performance and accessibility.

University Technical College

Delivery of a new state of the art University Technical College for the BTE Academy. The new college facilities consist of 4000sqm of space, and included within this were science laboratories, CAD rooms, project space, offices, Learning Resource Centre (LRC), teaching space and an activity centre.

Institute of Life Sciences 2

New build development of a medical research building, built in conjunction with a local NHS Health Board and on behalf of Swansea University. It included laboratories, wet rooms, imaging suite (3 tesla MRI and CT scanner platform), nano Technology centre (including specialist nano probe), classrooms, and clean rooms.

Centre for Learning

New flagship Centre for Learning building for Downe House School. The development comprises a café, library, multifunctional auditorium/performing arts space, school library, and associated offices and ancillary spaces.

Barnstaple Campus

New build development aimed at transforming PETROCs Barnstaple campus. This included a new engineering block and lifestyle building which provides training units for hospitality, tourism and beauty therapy. Facilities include workshops, teaching space, offices, commercial kitchens, beauty salons and ICT suites.

Spurcroft School

West Berkshire Council commissioned the phased conversion of Spurcroft Primary School, to take it from a 1.5 Form Entry to 2.5 Form Entry school. This involved the reconfiguration and refurbishment of the existing school and provision of a new modular teaching block, library and offices. 

Atrium 2B

University of South Wales facility located within the heart of Cardiff and designed specifically with their Creative Industry students in mind. The second stage of the project involved the process of extending the current Atrium building and the construction of 24 classrooms, dance and music halls, and photography studio.

Queens Road Building

Refurbishment of University of Bristol’s large 1960’s Student Union building in the heart of the city centre. The aim of the project was to extend the life of the building through improving its environmental efficiency and refurbishing existing facilities such as the Student Union, swimming pool, teaching facilities and office space.

Whiteknights Utilities

Infrastructure upgrades to provide heat and power to 13 buildings across University of Readings. This included the delivery of a new Energy Centre with a combined heat and power plant, a LTHQ district heating network, demolition of the old boiler house, stripping of the old steam mains, gas and water drainage and IT infrastructure capacity works.

AME CAPSE

Delivery of two new engineering buildings for University of South Wales to house Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) and Centre for Automotive and Power Systems Engineering. The buildings provide improved teaching facilities for both departments including laboratories, engineering workshops, simulators and control rooms. 

WISE Campus

WISE Campus development for SGS College which provided extensive new facilities including a mixed sports pitch, 400m running track, indoor football/rugby pitch, studios, rehearsal and music rooms, theatre, sports bar and offices.

Schools Programme

Programme of six school refurbishments and extensions to increase Wiltshire Councils capacity. Projects involved creating new learning and teaching space, school and staff facilities and enhancements to external surroundings and structures.

Energy Safety Research Inst.

The Energy Safety Research Institute (ESRI) is a £20M new build project built in collaboration with BP for Swansea University. The new building’s facilities includes workshops, research laboratories, teaching space, ICT provisions, staff offices, conference and meeting rooms.

Ashford Sixth Form

Development of a new build sixth form centre at Ashford School, Kent. The scheme is the first step in a wider masterplan and is designed to assist in school students transition to Higher Education. The project remained within budget during RIBA Stages 1-3, however, did not go to tender due to CV19.

Cyber Centre

Refurbishment project at the SGS College’s Berkeley campus to facilitate the development of a new cyber security training centre. The project involved the construction of offices, teaching space and IT suites.

Institute of Education

The relocation and subsequent refurbishment of the University of Reading’s Institute of Education. The project involved the careful planning and mapping of the locations of each department into the London Road Campus to ensure each facility had the right amount of space to operate successfully.

Queens Engineering Building

Refurbishment and extension of the University of Bristol’s engineering faculty. The aim of the project was to enhance the current teaching environment through the installation of new workshops, seminar space and research facilities.

Schools Programme

Prembrokeshire Council’s Schools Programme is a new learning campus development that combines the existing secondary school and vocational centre into one learning facility. The new campus is 13,000m² in size and a further 4000m² College building was developed at the existing school located off Pembroke Road.

Nuffield Theatre

Provided education strategic project management for the refurbishment of an on-campus theatre originally built in the early 1960’s for University of Southampton. The refurbished auditorium wwas to be used as both a Teaching and Performing Arts space to accommodate student and visiting theatre productions.

Langford Veterinary School

Refurbishment and extension to the Veterinary Services Surgery for the University of Bristol. The project involved delivering a new build in addition to refurbishing an existing listed building, therefore requiring complex planning permission. The scheme achieved a rating of BREEAM Excellent.

Wellington Academy

Provided education strategic project management for a Wiltshire Council project that involved extending the existing school building to provide additional teaching and learning space, study areas, welfare facilities and storage space.

Advanced Engineering Centre

New Advanced Engineering Centre in Filton, Bristol for City of Bristol College. This project involved the development of new and refurbished facilities to support the College’s engineering department. The project included the installation of laboratories, design space, teaching rooms and offices.

Theale Green Sixth Form

West Berkshire Council required a two-storey extension to an existing secondary school in Theale, Reading. The project was undertaken in a live school environment and created a new sixth form facility for the school.

Lower School Boarding

Delivery of two boarding houses for the Downe House’s Lower School, to provide a total of 80 bed spaces with associated communal areas, plus accommodation for a House Mistress and Assistant House Mistress.

Exeter House School

New extension to Wiltshire Councils existing Exeter House Special School, which provides education for children between the ages of 3 and 19, who have a range of learning difficulties. The project provided additional teaching space, storerooms, administration, group rooms and hall. The works consist of the refurbishment and remodelling of the existing school.

Aquatics Centre

Relocation of the University of Bristols Biological Sciences building. The existing building was vacated in preparation for the relocation of the Maths department, therefore requiring the relocating of the existing fish tanks. The new Aquatics Suites were created at Level H of the Medical Sciences Building and within the ground floor of the Vet School at Southwell Street.
