Coastal Housing Group are a not-for-profit organisation which aims to benefit communities in South Wales through developing and regenerating new homes and mixed-use facilities. The Urban Quarter project was a large, mixed-use development consisting of residential and retail units within the heart of Swansea. The project formed part of the Swansea high-street regeneration scheme and featured a total of 60 housing units, retail outlets on the ground floor, gardens and landscaping.

Provelio were appointed as Project Managers for the first phase of a large mixed development of residential and retail units within the heart of Swansea. We acted as Lead Consultants for the project team and management procurement and contract administration.

Due to a listed building forming part of the original site, Provelio had to work closely with planners and conservationists in order to manage the demolition and reconstruction of part of the building. In order to help the client reduce costs, Provelio ensured that the contractors were able to salvage as much of the original building material as possible and recreate the build using similar materials in the design.

The site is on the banks of the river and therefore has the potential to contain historically significant artefacts. In order to avoid potential delays to the programme that this could have caused, Provelio managed the appointment of a specialist archaeologist to ensure that any artefacts were salvaged as soon as possible.
