St Johns Hall
The refurbishment of a Grade II listed building within the centre of Penzance as part of the Councils larger programme. The Council wished to refurbish an iconic town centre building, with the intention of relocating the current Penzanca One Stop Shop and the associated staff from their previous St Clare site to the building. The completed project ensured the building included a relocated library, a new adult education facility, one stop shop, registrar’s office and Council office space for 170 council staff. The refurbished building was designed with ‘modern working’ principles in place, including the use of open plan office space, which reduced costs and increased efficiencies.
Provelio were appointed as lead project manager to manage the refurbishment project from the pre-construction staff, through the phased delivery to completion. This included setting a procurement strategy and managing the procurement of contractors and design consultants. In addition to project management, Provelio provided supervisors to overlook the construction, testing, commissioning and handover process, eliminating all outstanding defects in alignment with the contract.
As a listed building, the project required sensitively re-furbishing the existing building, incorporating a new level access main entrance and new internal lifts, whilst reconfiguring the internal building to consolidate the existing services.
