Corsham Community Campus
Project Managers for the extension and refurbishment of an existing Council community campus in Wiltshire. The new facility provided a new local library, council office space, community hall, leisure centre, police station, meeting rooms, youth services, cafes and a Youth and Learning Disability Centre.
The project formed part of the Councils Carbon Reduction Commitments (CRC) for both operational and embodied carbon. The extension element of the scheme was built using a cross laminated timber frame, which was fabricated off site. The scheme received a BREEAM Very Good rating for its sustainable commitments.
The procurement choices for the project enabled the existing leisure centre facility to remain operational throughout the duration of the works. This was a key requirement for the Council to ensure that members of the public were still allowed access to the community facility. By building elements of the new extension off-site enabled this to happen.
Following the completion of the works a number of defects and issues were found, these included the collapse of a ceiling to the new extension and a failing sports hall floor. These items required further investigation and remediation. We managed these investigation works on behalf of the Wiltshire Council and then planed and managed the remediation works with the relevant contractors.
