The works comprise the dualling of existing single carriageway between the new Fitzalan Link Road / A284 Lyminster Bypass (a new developer led junction will be constructed) and the Body Shop Roundabout as well as between the Angmering Station Road Roundabout and the A280 Roundabout. In addition to the new dual carriageway, the adjoining junctions will be improved to cope with the wider road. There will also be a new shared pedestrian and cycleway on the south side segregated from the main carriageway by grass verge. Surface water drainage measures will be required due to the additional impermeable area. Significant diversion / protection of statutory undertakers plant is envisaged and land purchase is required to complete the scheme. The scheme is designed to reduce congestion, improve journey times and give more reliable journey times.
