Brewery Quarter Flood Relief
Appointed as project managers to de-risk a large brownfield site within Redruth, Cornwall. The land itself suffered from severe flooding so was deemed of high risk to potential developers. We worked alongside the Council to establish a budget, plan and delivery method for stabilising the site so that it could be further developed for local housing, a new school, supermarket and waste recycling centre.
We helped support the housing developers through:
- Extensive communication and engagement with the housing developers to ensure that the site delivered the desired benefits to allow them to successfully build.
- Created and gave joint presentations with the developers to local planner, the community and local government detailing the propose scheme plans and the benefits it would bring to the local area.
- We conducted an in-depth flood assessment of the site once complete to demonstrate it was no longer deemed a high flood risk site. This assessment was then used by the developer as part of their planning application.
- We worked closely with both the private developer and Homes & Community Agency to ensure that the proposed site plans were suitable and consistent with one another.
- The de-risking of the site was a success and subsequently secured the £40M investment from the developer.
