Rowing Relocation
The refurbishment of the Red Oak building near Headington Hill in order to relocate the Rowing team from their previous location. The current site housing the rowing team, the Willow Building, is due to be demolished and the team have to be moved. The Red Oak building previously housed the School of Arts, and the building must be decanted to allow for the move.
The Red Oak building is constrained by current temporary planning conditions and all internal arrangement must be adjusted to incorporate all necessary equipment within the existing footprint of the building. The building will house a weights room, cardio room and miscellaneous items.
Provelio were originally appointed to develop a feasibility study that would report on the cost, programme and risk of the project. The initial proposal to develop a temporary location but the options were not cost-effective. Therefore, it became necessary to relocate the department to the Red Oak building instead. Provelio are currently developing Employer requirements that will allow the Red Oak building to be adjusted to house the University’s rowing team. The ERs will inform the delivery of the Phase 2 procurement and delivery of works.
